Wedding at Madurai

Feb 3rd of 2006, Swapna’s wedding. We had gone for her reception on 5th Feb. It’s good to see most of your friends present there to witness the occasion. That’s one very good reason you should get married as soon as the college gets over, you are sure all your friends will make it to the wedding. We (Divi , Mai , NP , Naram and myself) started off on 3rd night from Egmore station. We did go a day ahead of the wedding day and made sure we went for the places in Madurai .First we al hurried to the station as we were late for the train only to know that the train is an hour late for its arrival. Hmmm….

We had reached Madurai on 4th morning and went to Alagar Temple. It’s a place which is 17kms away from Madurai and it’s fully been taken by the monkeys (literally). People go to that temple with a stick in their hand to scare the monkeys. The place is also a picnic spot for the locals. Evening we went to Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and it’s a breathtaking beauty in every sense.

In Madurai, the areas surrounding the temple form the main city and none of the buildings should be higher than the “Gopuram” of the temple. The magnificent golden lotus pond, each and every deity decorated fully in silver or flowers adds to the splendid beauty of the artwork done to the temple walls and ceiling.Divi’s mom had accompanied us to the temple and took us to the nook and corner of the temple and told us what is the history behind each deity present there.

We were completely exhausted of all energy by the 3 hours long walk through the temple , but it felt good. All of retired for the day after that . The next day the only thing we did was to get ready for the reception at 6 pm. Yeah that’s so time consuming … he he hee….

Should I be telling this?? Hmmm… Swapna was looking like a barbie doll in Indian attire. The entrance to the hall had a rangoli of Shin and swapna(too good). To add to the function there was Sudha Raghunathan’s classical concert. We had to rush back to catch our bus back to Chennai.

The best or rather the scariest part was our return journey.

Feb 14

Message of the day:

Treat every relationship as if it's the last one, then you'll know how to give. Treat every moment as is it's the last day, then you'll know how to treasure.

Trip to Queen's Land

Thought the post is a little late to be written, I prefer this on the Blog...

On 21st of January ‘06, Divi's Company had organized a grand day "Annual Day" outing for people in Shollinganallur office to Queens Land. And yes, friends were allowed to come for the outing too... (Wow, the company is very generous). The event had people around 2500 people (which include all friends and family of the employees who had come) from the company and there were others general crowd too. So the entire Queens land as the whole was swarmed with people. There might have been 4000 people in Queen’s land that day.

The day started at 9 am, we had all (Malathi, Np, Divi and myself) got our self into one of the buses arranged by the company and was in full josh for the day ahead. We even missed our breakfast in the fun. He he hee , yeah we do over expect. First when we got down the entire place was thronged with people and some how managed to get in after teaming up with Ramya and Gilli.

First, we thought we would go for the free fall ride only to realize that it had a queue so long it might take ages to reach the ride. We slipped through the queue to go to the next ride which was the roller coaster. The one ride that was actually a little exciting in the entire day. We tried to get in to all the rides and pleasantly that morning had passed. And for the rest of the day , we had fun in the water rides in which only mai and myself went . The final ride was free fall , which did not terrify us at all…
